PF MPs advised against turning parley into PF secretariat

Parliament opposition benchesThe opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) has advised the ruling Patriotic Front against abusing Parliament during the duration of the suspension of 48 UPND Members of Parliament.

NAREP Spokesperson Bwalya Nondo says PF Members of Parliament should not turn Parliament into a PF Secretariat by taking advantage of the absence of UPND MPs and come up with bills that will work to their advantage.

Mr Nondo has told QTV News that taking the Constitution to Parliament for possible amendment during the period UPND Members of Parliament will be serving their suspension should not be tolerated.

He says in as much as NAREP supports the punishment imposed on the UPND Lawmakers by the Speaker, PF Members of Parliament must not abuse the house by addressing clauses in the constitution perceived to be working against the ruling party.

And All People’s Congress (APC) President Nason Msoni has accused the Executive wing of government of being behind the decision to punish the UPND Members of Parliament.

Mr Msoni says the Speaker’s decision alone is a threat to the promotion of parliamentary democracy and independence.
