Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe says it is unnecessary for some opposition political parties to call on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) to withhold funding to fund Zambia.

Recently, MMD faction president Dr. Nevers Mumba, People’s Party president Mike Mulongoti and Alliance for Democracy and Development president Charles Milupi appealed to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) not to fund what they termed as illegalities and people who will use their resources recklessly.

Mr. Chimfwembe says as Zambia market’s itself as a destination for foreign direct investments, it is important that politicians put the interest of the people first.

He says the differences between the opposition political parties and the ruling Patriotic Front should not in any way impede on the country’s vision to develop its People.

Mr. Chimfwembe says it is unfortunate that some Political parties are calling on Multi-national institutions to seize funding because of the Political situation on the ground.

He states that if the Multi-national institutions are to heed this call, it is the Zambians who will suffer in the end.
