Lusaka Dynamos have written to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to query the status and transfer of Nkana striker Walter Bwalya from Congo DR and consequently his eligibility to play football in Zambia.

Bwalya spent a season and a half at Ndola-based outfit Forest Rangers before he signed for Nkana in July 2015.

Lusaka Dynamos contend that Bwalya was not eligible to play for Nkana against them on Sunday, 11 June 2017 because there was no evidence of his transfer from Congo DR in the Fifa Transfer and Matching System (TMS).

In a letter addressed to FAZ, dated 9 July 2017, and made available to supersport.com, Lusaka Dynamos Chief Executive Officer Simataa Simataa wrote: “We hereby write to bring to your attention that the use of player Walter Bwalya by Nkana Football Club is irregular, therefore the player (is) ineligible to play. He played in our game against them in week 11 at the National Heroes Stadium.

“Our investigations reveal that Walter Bwalya once played in Congo DR under the name Heritier Binene Sabwa for Corbaux Football Club in seasons 2010-11 and Lubumbashi Stars FC in 2012.

“This qualifies him as a foreign player or a returning Zambian player requiring or who warrants an international transfer certificate before he can play in Zambia. There is no evidence in the TMS that this was sought or that you gave provisional permission for him to play.

“We call on you to apply the necessary sanctions when it is found that the player is not eligible to play in Zambia.”
