One of India’s leading private Universities, SHIMLA, has given Zambia 150 STUDENT scholarships.

SHIMLA University Director Admissions Ajit Nedungadi made the announcement when he called on Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga at her residence in New Delhi, India.

Dr Nedungadi explained that 50 of the scholarships are 100 percent paid for, while 100 are at 50 percent.

He further explains that the scholarships are specifically for tuition fees as the selected students will have to cater for their own air tickets, accommodation and state government administrative costs, all estimated at 1,500 United States Dollars per year.

Dr Nedungadi has stated that the scholarships are in the fields of engineering, management, fashion design, hospitality, law, journalism, architecture, and applied sciences.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga has praised the Government of India and SHIMLA University for providing a conducive environment to support students from Africa and Zambia in particular.

Mrs. Kapijimpanga says the Zambian Mission in New Delhi will consult with the Ministry of Higher Education to ensure that the most vulnerable students benefit from the scholarships.

This is contained in a statement issued by first secretary for press at Zambia’s high commission to India Bangwe Naviley.
