Govt urged to depend less on donor funding-Mwanza

Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign (TALC) National Coordinator Felix Mwanza has advised government to depend less on donor funding and increase its funding towards initiatives aimed at addressing HIV and AIDS.

Mr. Mwanza has told Q-news in interview that it is important for government to offer more funding for initiatives aimed at addressing issues of HIV and AIDs than the donors so that it does not become handicapped when donors decide to reduce or withdraw their funding.

He has noted that the situation which is currently happening in the western world where some countries are withdrawing donor funding to African countries should be an eye opener for government itself to allocate more funding for its own health interventions.
