The ministry of health says it has recorded a total of 300 typhoid cases in the country as of yesterday June 8th 2017 which are both confirmed and suspected.

Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka today Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr Kennedy Malama says a total of 162 typhoid cases have been recorded in Mpika as of yesterday with only two cases under currently treatment.

Dr Malama further disclosed that Lusaka’s Kalingalinga compound as of yesterday recorded a total of 138 cases with only one patient currently under treatment and in stable condition.

He has since reiterated the call on members of the public to observe and maintain hygiene in the daily living if the outbreak is to be curbed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Malama has disclosed that the ministry has attained a 119 percent target in the voluntary male circumcision.

Dr. Malama has disclosed that the ministry has conducted 128,246 successful voluntary circumcisions in all the ten provinces against its initial target of 108,000 circumcisions to be conducted.

He has stated that male circumcision is one of the major ways of preventing the spread of sexually transmitted infections.
