The Drug Enforcement Commission in Lusaka has arrested a South African national for trafficking in cocaine weighing over 1kg.

Zanele Marvis Mpi, 42, a House Maid of Port Elizabeth in the Republic of South Africa has been arrested for trafficking in cocaine weighing 1.28kg.

DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo says the suspect was intercepted at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Ethiopia.

Ms Katongo says the Commission has also arrested a Herbalist of Chipata District for trafficking in loose cannabis.

Patrick Satala Bwalya, 27, a Hebalist of Kalongwezi Area in Chipata District has been arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 30.6kg.

In a statement made available to QTV News, Ms. Katongo says the suspect was intercepted at Chinyunyu Check Point in Chongwe District.

She says both suspects will appear in court soon.
