UPND asks court to arrest ZDDM Leader Edwin Sakala

Edwin SakalaThe opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has called on Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja to arrest the Zambia Direct and Democracy Movement Leader, Edwin Sakala for accusing the party of killing people from eastern province living in Southern Province.

In a statement availed to QFM News today, UPND Secretary General Steven Katuka states that Mr. Sakala’s remarks are inciting violence and promoting tribalism, adding that police must act professionally and take appropriate action on the matter.

Mr. Katuka insists that Mr. Kanganja must deploy his officers to arrest Mr. Sakala, just like they did to their party leader, Hakainde Hichilema.

He says if Mr. Sakala is not arrested, his party will conclude that the arrest of Mr. Hichilema was tribal, personal, politically motivated.

Meanwhile Mr. Katuka has challenged Mr. Sakala to point out a political party in the country which can be compared to the opposition on issues of embracing people from other regions.

Mr. Katuka has maintained that his party will always promote oneness, and embrace even those who do not believe in democracy.
