General Education Minister Dennis Wanchinga

Government says it is struggling to find people to maintain the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure in the teaching and learning into institutions.

Minister of General Education Dr Dennis M. Wanchinga disclosed this during in Lusaka during the official launch of the China Funds – In – Trust (CFIT) Project in Zambia.

He says CFIT project is also targeting ICT technicians in colleges and of education and some selected schools.

He says this will enhance sustainability and ownership, also communities around the targeted institutions will be allowed to use the facilities to reduce vandalism.

Government has also appreciated the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), UNICEF, World Food Programme, the World Bank, UNESCO, and many more partners.

He has since urged entrusted users and the beneficiaries of the facilities where they will be entrusted to look after the facilities well once installed so that they can be of service for a long time.

And speaking at the same event UNESCO Assistant Director –General for Education Dr Qian Tang has congratulated the Zambian government for embarking on the implementations of the UNESCO-CFIT project and making a strong statement on its commitment to the implementation of the target on teachers in the sustainable development goals  especially goal 4 on education.
