Former Transport and Communications Minister William Harrington has advised the government through the Road Transport and Safety Agency to retest all public bus drivers in the country.

Mr. Harrington, who is also the first RTSA Board Chairperson, has told QTV News that the move to retest Mazhandu Family Bus Drivers alone is unfair unless the agency can consider retesting all drivers once a year in order to promote road safety in the country.

Mr. Harrington argues that in fact most of the drivers who worked for Mazhandu at the time the RTSA suspended the license have moved to work for other companies and thus the need to make it a policy that all public service drivers are retested at least once every year.

He says that way, the nation would be sure of achieving goals of reducing road traffic accidents.

And Mr. Harrington has praised the government for not lifting the suspension for Mazhandu Family Buses after failing to meet all the conditions set by RTSA.

He says in order to reduce the accidents on the roads, the government ought to be proactive and ensure that all players in the road sector follow the laid down regulations.
