Political Analyst Dr. Alex Ng’oma has cautioned the opposition UPND against treating the absence of their vice president for Administration Geoffrey Mwamba lightly at a time their leader Hakainde Hichilema remains incarcerated.

Dr. Ng’oma has urged the opposition United Party for National Development to handle the absence of their vice president with great concern.

Dr. Ng’oma has questioned Mr. Mwamba’s whereabouts during the incarceration of the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema, who is currently facing a treason charge.

He has told Q NEWS that Mr. Mwamba’s absence should be of great concern to the public and the UPND members, adding that it is astonishing that Mr. Mwamba has been un-available during Mr. Hichilema’s incarceration, when he is supposed to be providing guidance to the party.

On Saturday, UPND Secretary General Steven Katuka told QTV NEWS that his party is not destabilized by Mr. Mwamba’s absence.

But Dr. Ng’oma has argued that the matter should be dealt with great concern as Mr. Mwamba is second in command from Mr. Hichilema, and should therefore provide leadership to the party during his incarceration.

He has further stated that, the party’s quietness on the matter will raise speculations among members of the public, and assumptions, that there is something wrong within the party.
