Government says it has started dismantling the two billion, sixty seven million Kwacha debt owed to, transporters, seed suppliers and the Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ), from the 2016-2017 farming season.

Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya has told a media briefing that ministry of finance has made strides in dismantling the debt for effective preparations, of the next farming seasons.

Ms. Siliya says a huge chunk of the debt incurred from the previous farming season is over one billion Kwacha owed to NCZ.

She has however reiterated that the ministry of finance will start disbursing the funds today.

Meanwhile, Ms. Siliya has stated that her ministry is going to improve the efficiency of the E-voucher, by engaging commercial banks and ICT companies so that farmers may access their inputs in time.

She has also, emphasized that dismantling debts from the last farming season will also increase the efficiency, and resources for the next farming season.
