The Citizens Environment and Social Concern (CESCo) has called on stakeholders not to point fingers at each other but hold hands together and mitigate the negative Environmental effects such as climate change, deforestation and pollution.

CESCo Executive Director Conwell Hakapya has told QFM News in commemorating World Environment Day which falls on June 5th every year, that Government, Civil societies, Mines and Industries, Corporate entities and the general citizenry should all join hands in persevering nature.

Mr. Hakapya says this is not a time for rhetoric, but a time to reflect on what the nation has done, what the people are doing and what Zambians are going to do to Protect and Preserve Nature.

He says the most fundamental principal the people should not negate is the fact that nature doesn’t need Man, Man needs nature, even scientific analysis proves that where there is less or no human activities, nature thrives but without nature mankind will not thrive later on survive.

Mr. Hakapya has observed the need to take concerted efforts and not just leave it to Government and civil society to protect and preserve the Environment, but that all need to take full responsibility in their individual capacities as citizens to protect and preserve the living and working environment.

Today’s World Environmental Day is commemorated under the Theme ‘Connecting People to Nature’.
