The International Labour Organization (ILO) has recommended that government should consider employing more Labour inspectors to help enforce the casualization Law.

In November 2015 President Edgar Lungu signed into law the amendments to the employment Act that bans casualization and unjustified termination of employment in the country.

ILO Country Director for Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, Alexio Musindo has observed the need to strengthen the capacity of Labour inspectors in the country which he says is limited to monitor the implementation of the casualization law.

He has told QTV News that it is important that government improves on both in terms of the number of inspectors and the quality of the inspection in order to achieve its goals.

And Mr. Musindo has proposed that government should also consider doing a rapid assessment in selected employers on what has been the impact since the law was signed in 2015.
