Energy sector remains priority for govt – Yaluma

Acting Minister of Energy Christopher Yaluma says Government attaches great importance to improving Energy Sector in the Country by supporting both public and private energy institutions with the view to bring about National development.

Mr. Yaluma says Government has realized that for Zambia to attain meaningful National development, more national priority programs should be channeled toward promoting energy sector as a driving force.

Speaking during the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) 20th Anniversary Commemoration and Launch of Service Charter in Lusaka, Mr. Yaluma says in order to promote development in rural areas the ERB has Actualized Government Polices on uniform pump prices which were introduced in September 2010.

He stresses that Government therefore wishes to encourage the use of alternative forms of energy in Zambia adding that there is need for to rise to the occasion and ensure that the potential harnessed and exploited for the befit of national economy.

And ERB Acting Chairpersons Professor Francis Yamba says the ERB has a determined team with the intention to work on the road map for Zambia’s new energy landscape.

He stresses that the ERB is in the effort to bring services closer to stakeholders and extended its presences to three other towns of Chinsali, Kitwe, and Livingston.

He points out that to remain focused on the mandate; the ERB will consistently manage stakeholders in appreciating the pronouncements which will benefit the Country in the energy sector.
