Murder suspect Mukata committed to High Court

Keith k-MukataChilanga Member of Parliament Keith Mukata who is facing a murder charge has been committed to the High Court for trial.

Lusaka Magistrate Irene Wishimanga committed Mr Mukata and his wife Charmine Musonda to the High court after Director of Public Prosecutions Lillian Siyuni issued the certificate of committal.

Mr Mukata and his wife are accused of shooting dead Namakau Kwenda, a security guard who was employed by Men in Black Security company and deployed at house number 4 Alex Masala close in Rhodes Park which is the office of AKM Legal Practitioners, the Chilanga MP’s law firm.

Facts are that around 00:40 hours on 6th May, patrons at Spice Restaurant which is next to AKM Legal Practitioners heard some gun shots from the premises of AKM Legal Practitioners and when they went out they shortly heard Mr Mukata shouting for help that someone had been shot and that the assailants had run away.

The patrons became suspicious and called the police who rushed to the scene and found the deceased lying in the corner of the yard just next to the gate.

Upon searching the premises, Police found one empty cartridge and one pistol with 6 rounds of ammunitions, of which one was in the chamber while five were in the magazine which was found in a basket in the boot of the motor vehicle BMW registration number BCA 7262 Charcoal Grey in colour.
