The Confederation of Trade Union of Zambia (COTUZ) has maintained that the nation should consider to remove the 50 percent plus one clause in the amended constitution.

The union feels that the nation is not ready and prepared for this clause.

COTUZ President Joe Kamutumwa as the nation is identifying clauses in the current constitution that needs to be amended, there is need to remove this clause and revert to the simple majority rule which is economically responsive and manageable.

He has told QTV News that the Grade 12 clause is another clause which must be revoked because it disfranchises and discriminates a lot of citizens who have the wisdom to be leaders and the ability to rule.

Mr. Kamutumwa says his organization will be making submission to revoke these two clauses as they are disadvantaging other citizens.

He adds that he wants to see preparations for a referendum gaining momentum and has called for massive sensitizations in the community.
