Agriculture Deputy Minister Maxas Ng’onga

PF Kaputa Member of Parliament Maxas Ng’onga has reiterated his commitment to end child marriage in his constituency, saying it is a priority of the PF government.

Mr. Ng’onga says he has taken significant steps towards the promotion and coordination of national initiatives aimed at ending child marriage in Kaputa in partnership with other stakeholders.

He has therefore, called on parents, traditional leaders, the media and other stakeholders to recognize that child marriage is a violation of human rights that has a devastating impact on both boys and girls.

Mr. Ng’onga says girls of school age are usually the victims of child marriage, saying that it is a sad reality which, must change.

Mr. Ng’onga has since praised President Edgar Lungu for his role in sensitizing and spreading strong messages on ending child marriages not only in Zambia but in Africa as a whole.
