COTUZ welcomes plans to audit Mines

The Confederation of Trade Unions of Zambia (COTUZ) is pleased with the aggressiveness by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) in taxing mining companies in the country.

ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda says the authority will in the next few weeks start auditing all major mining firms in the country and that the forensic audit will be done in an objective and professional manner.

But COTUZ President Joe Kamutumwa says taxing mining firms is critical in getting the much needed taxes.

Mr. Kamutumwa says it is evident that aggressive tax planning is rampant in Zambia’s mining sector.
