The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has observed that banning mobile phones from schools has the effect of giving pupils an extra week’s education over the course of an academic year.

PROTUZ General Secretary Kangwa Musenga says the union is grateful to the government for banning the use of cell phones in schools saying this will no doubt have an impact on the performance of the learners.

Mr. Musenga says mission schools have better results than public schools because phones are not allowed in school premises.

He only hopes that the pupils will adhere to this directive as it will help them achieve their education goals.
