Performance Contracts coming for Directors

Permanent Secretary in charge of Policy Analysis and Coordination at Cabinet Office, Bernard Kamphasa says the performance based contract system for permanent secretaries aimed at improving performance and accountability of public office holders will soon be extended to directors.

Mr. Kamphasa says there is need for all public office holders to deliver quality services to the people, saying Directors and Permanent secretaries are in public offices to serve the people.

He says government attaches great importance to performance management the reason why it has continued to enhance capacities through training.

Speaking during a media breakfast on the forthcoming Zambia Society for Public Administration (ZPSA) 2017 International Conference on performance and strategic management, Mr. Kamphasa says a number of Permanent Secretaries underwent training in balanced scorecard a tool for management in order to deliver quality services to the people.

Mr. Kamphasa has since commended the Zambia Society for Public Administration for organizing this year’s international conference which is scheduled to take place from 20th to 23rd June.

Speaking at the same event, ZSPA President, Kelvin Esiasa says this year’s conference is special as the organization will also launch the section for women in public administration.

Mr. Esiasa says the launch will aim to create a platform where women in public institutions and the public sector in general will be supported in participation and recognition at all levels.

And Mr Esiasa says his organisation considers the media as partners and vital instruments to national development.
