Govt reaffirms commitment to sound business regulations

Mwanakatwe

Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that Zambia has sound laws and regulations that are supportive to private sector growth.

Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe says this explains why government enacted the Business Regulatory Act No.3 of 2014.

Mrs. Mwanakatwe says since the enactment of this law, her Ministry has facilitated the necessary institutional framework to support the implementation of the legislation through the establishment of the Business Regulatory Review Committee (BRRC) under her Ministry.

In a ministerial statement to Parliament, Mrs Mwanakatwe says the Committee is responsible for the implementation of the Act through the provision of guidelines and standards.

He adds that her Ministry has also established the Business Regulatory Review Agency (BRRA) which became operational in May 2016.

Ms. Mwanakatwe says the BRRA is charged with the responsibility of assisting the BRRC for the performance of its functions under the Act.
