Presidential address was rhetorical – Milupi

Opposition Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) President Charles Milupi has charged that President Edgar Lungu’s State of the nation address was rhetorical rather than practical.

Mr Milupi says the country is not at a point where government should make theoretical speeches.

He says it was expected that President Lungu would bring out practical measures and not rhetoric in his speech.

In a telephone interview with QTV, Mr. Milupi says the ADD expected President Lungu to state how the PF government plans to deal with the deteriorating Zambian economy and its impact.

Mr. Milupi adds that the nation would like to know how government intends to address issues of high poverty levels, unemployment and lack of industrialization activities.

He says he also expected President Lungu to share measures aimed at addressing corruption and the misapplication of the Public Order Act.
