Lead poisoning in Kabwe reduces dogs’ life span to 3 months

Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube has reiterated his call to government to pay particular attention the contamination mine dump is causing in Kabwe town.

Mr. Ngulube says people of Kabwe are concerned that for the last 23 years there has not been any cleaning exercise at the old Zinc and Lead Mine.

In an interview with QTV News Mr. Ngulube says people’s concern is notwithstanding the already established fact that due to mine dump Kabwe is still the number 10 most contaminated in the world.

Mr. Ngulube notes that owing to this contamination no domestic pets such as dogs live not longer than a year in the town area near the shut down mine.

He says impact on human beings includes stunted growth and infertility.

Mr. Ngulube says this is why he keeps reminding government to seriously deal with the issue of lead poisoning in Kabwe town.
