Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has dismissed reports on social media that Police have closed the case of assault against President Edgar Lungu’s political affairs advisor Kaizer Zulu reported by a female Police officer. 
In a statement, Ms Katongo has also dismissed assertions that Mr Zulu is being shielded in any way by the Police.
Ms Katongo says immediately after filing a complaint, the complainant was issued with a medical report and a docket of the case was opened, and that the case is currently under study.
She says the police service does not act on impulse, but has procedures to follow in pursuing cases.
Ms Katongo adds that claims that the police service is selective in the application of Law are misplaced.
