Mweenge Chimfwembe – FODEP Executive Director
Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe has praised Justice Minister Given Lubinda for his commitment to the issue of reforming the Public Order Act.
Mr. Chimfwembe says it is important that the Law conforms to the current Democratic tenets.
He says FODEP wants to see amendments to the Public Order Act completed as soon as possible.
He notes that there are no serious reconcilable thoughts regarding the Act, adding that the principles guarding the Public Order Act should be within the Constitution principles of promoting democracy, and equity.
Mr Chimfwembe states that in many cases, the application of this law has lacked these qualities thereby bringing confusion among key players who feel that the application of the Public Order Act is selective.
