Japanese govt donates K4.8m towards Kafue maternal health project

The Japanese government has donated 4.8 million Kwacha towards the implementation of phase two of the maternal and child health project in Chisankane area of Kafue District.

Once completed, the maternal and child health facility is expected to benefit up to 2, 100 girls and women in Chisankane.

The donation comes in form of a grant contract signed by the Japanese embassy and the Association for Aide and Relief Japan (AAR Japan) in Lusaka today.

Activities for the signed contract to be implemented this year include the construction of a maternity waiting ward and a staff house at the old Kabweza Health Post.

A total of 40 Neighborhood Health Committee (NHC) members in Chisankane area will also be trained under this project.

Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Hidenobu Sobashima said he looked forward to the project being implemented smoothly and the anticipated benefits realized.
