Host nation Zambia will stroll on the pitch not only on trial for the kind of show they will offer on the pitch but off it as well when they face dark horses Guinea in the opening match of the Total Under-20 Africa Cup.

The team has been flying high having won the Cosafa Under-20 championship in December last year and also had a high profile outing in Spain where they played practice matches with as highly regarded opposition as the Barcelona B side, Swiss side FC Basel and Tenerife B sides.

A 3-1 loss to Barcelona was the only blemish on their Spain tour having won 1-0 over FC Basel and Tenerife B sides.

A follow up 2-1 win over South Africa in an international friendly gave the local fans a taste of what to expect during the tournament as Zambian fans watched their junior stars at Nkoloma Stadium.

While results for friendly matches count for little Coach Beston Chambeshi has had time to see how his lads will line up on the big occasion this afternoon.

Upfront there could be possible partnership of Patson Daka and Fashion Sakala with the exciting Crispin Sakulanda expected to provide support upfront.

There is a lot of expectation around the weave of passes by Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu who has become known as the king of assists.

At the back skipper Solomon Sakala has very able assistants in Moses Nyondo, Sgemmy Mayembe and Prosper Chiluya to cover Mangani Banda.

Zambia will be hoping to make a strong statement on the opening day of the tournament to keep the locals interested in the AFCON.
