Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has urged the media in the country to stand united IN defending press freedom.
MISA Zambia Chairperson Helen Mwale says MISA is saddened by what has been happening to some media houses in the country.
Ms. Mwale says MISA shares the view of stakeholders who have observed that press freedom in Zambia is under siege.
She however, states that the media should realize that it is not for advocacy organizations such as MISA alone to defend press freedom in Zambia.
Ms. Mwale tells QTV that MISA Zambia holds the view that individual media houses have a responsibility to defend the freedom of the media.
Ms. Mwale says this is besides taking up the responsibility of defending the freedom of expression of the Zambian people.
