Former Defence Minister George Mpombo has described as farcical pantomime calls for Zambia to withdraw membership from the International Criminal Court.

Dr. Mpombo says the issue of Zambia’s membership to the ICC should not be handled in what he has phrased as playing fast and loose with facts.
In interview telephone with Qfm News, Dr. Mpombo says the nation is not being honest with itself by going to the extent of even debating whether Zambia should pull out from ICC or not.
Dr. Mpombo says the ICC has performed and has proved that it is an effective Court to fight crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide in Africa.
He states that it is for this reason, he believes Zambia should not leave the ICC.
Dr. Mpombo says this is especially at a time when it has become commonplace in Africa for dictators to clinging on to power after being defeated in elections.
