Mumba cautions against rushing Zambia’s ICC exit

Vice Chairman of the SADC opposition parties Nevers Mumba says the country should not rush in making a decision whether or not to exit from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Dr. Mumba says it is too early for Zambia or any other African country to withdraw membership from the ICC based on the recent resolution by the African Union heads of state and government summit.

In an interview with QTV News, Dr. Mumba says SADC member states should instead unite and engage the ICC.

Dr. Mumba who is also opposition MMD faction leader notes that this is the only way he believes SADC member states will be able to push for reforms in the ICC.

He notes that should this approach of pushing for reforms fail, it will then be justified for African countries withdrawal from the Court.
