Civil Rights activist Brebner Changala is saddened that while press freedom in the country is being tempered with, the media has failed to stand up and speak with one voice.

Mr Changala says it is surprising how some media houses for example appear to have rejoiced over the closure of the Post newspapers.

He wonders why any media house can rejoice over the vacuum left by the liquidation of the Post Newspapers.

Mr. Changala believes the closure of the tabloid newspaper has left a huge vacuum which other independent media houses are unable to fill.

Mr. Changala has since challenged the media in the country to rise to the occasion and defend press freedom.
