The Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) has advised Luanshya Copper Mine management to engage mine workers’ unions on the impasse on salary increments for the workers.
FFTUZ President Chingati Msiska says it is unreasonable for LCM Chief Executive Officer Wang Chunlai to tell off the workers that the company will not increase their salaries due to financial challenges.
Mr. Msiska says the company must embrace dialogue when handling such issues to avoid angering the hard working miners.
He has advised investors to avoid making statements that may affect the workers’ morale and motivation to work.
