Positive economic growth has not impacted Zambians -ZIPAR

The Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) says while the country‘s economy has stabilized in the recent past, this has not had a positive impact on the lives of the majority Zambians.

ZIPAR Researcher Caesar Cheelo notes that while the inflation and exchange rates have stabilized, the cost of living is still high.

Mr. Cheelo says government needs to relook at its priority areas and do away with some of the projects it has embarked on and divert the resources to areas that will bring down the cost living in the country.

He points out that projects to do with the putting up of new universities, coming up with new districts among others should wait till the country is in a better fiscal position.

Mr. Cheelo further notes that there many social protection mechanisms that can be put in place that would help the country’s economy grow.
