NUPPEZ ponders exposing female teacher abuses

The newly formed National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) has charged that some female teachers in the country are leaving in silence after suffering sexual abuse by their superiors.

NUPPEZ President Stanley Mhango says this is the more reason why his union has been formed to help teachers with various issues that are affecting their teaching careers.

Mr. Mhango says there is need to protect both female teachers and pupils from sexual abuse at the hands of their superiors, thus the need to devise mechanisms that will protect them from any harm.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mhango says the union will strive to ensure teachers conduct themselves in a professional manner and desist from things that may compromise their careers.

He points out that the challenge of exam malpractices will be a thing of the past as the union will try by all means to ensure teachers do not engage in such vices.
