Lungu accords late Agriculture Minister Chiinda Official Funeral

President Edgar Lungu has accorded late former cabinet Minister Misheck Chiinda an official funeral.

The late Mr. Chiinda, aged 69, died at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka on Saturday.

The funeral gathering is being held at his farm House in Chikankata District in Southern Province.

President Lungu has also declared Thursday 19th January, 2017, the day on which Mr. Chiinda will be buried, a day of National Mourning.

The late Mr. Chiinda served as Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister in 2001 in late President Dr. Fredrick Chiluba administration.

He was later appointed District Commissioner for Mazabuka from 2004 to 2007 by late President Levy Mwanawasa.

Secretary to Cabinet Dr. Rowland Msiska has told QFM News that the burial will take place at his farm in Chikankata preceded by a Requiem Service at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka tomorrow at 09hrs.

Dr. Msiska has advised members of the public that in view of the National Mourning on Thursday, 19th January 2017, all flags will fly at half –mast and programmes of an entertainment nature on both radio and television should be cancelled or postponed.
