The Judiciary has been praised for its resolve to expose off Gender Based Violence (GBV) related cases at a quicker pace saying this will help in the fight against GBV in the country.

The Advocacy against Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence is pleased with the Kafue Magistrates’ Court’s fast pace in convicting and sentencing a DJ to five years imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting a woman last year.

Chishimba Chibemba, 26 also known as DJ Chichi, was arrested on Tuesday after being on the run for seven months.

Chibemba of Nangongwe compound in Kafue ruthlessly beat up Nagad Saad before stripping her outside Gambinos Night Club in Kafue.

But Advocacy against Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence Executive Director Bellion Chola says the judiciary must be commended as in the past various stakeholders were concerned with the pace at which the courts were handling GBV cases.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chola has disclosed that his organization has so far managed to retrieve two young girls who were married off at a tender age in Zani Muone West area.

He says it is saddening and shocking that girls as young as fourteen are married off by their parents instead of sending them to schools.
