The drafting of the Social Health Insurance Bill by government to set up the first ever national Social Health Scheme has reached an advanced stage.

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has disclosed that the drafting process of the Bill is in fact a few days away to being completed.
Dr. Chilufya says once the Bill has been drafted it will be taken to Cabinet for approval after which it will be tabled in Parliament.
In an interview with QTV News Dr. Chilufya says government’s intention is to have this Bill passed this year.
Dr. Chilufya notes that while these processes are still underway there are however other administrative processes that are ongoing ahead of the rolling out the Social Health Scheme this year.
He states that government believes that establishing such a scheme is the best way of ensuring that the people of Zambia have an expand access to health services.
