NHA workers get four month’s pay of owed arrears

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says the workers at the National Housing Authority (NHA) have so far been paid four months out of the nine months arrears.

ZCTU Deputy Secretary General Misheck Nyambose says what is remaining is now five months pay which he says the union hopes will be paid when they resume work after the break.

He explains that the workers were also paid their education allowance.

Mr. Nyambose says the offloading of the four months pay was as a result of the interventions by the trade unions.

He also disclosed that ZCTU had a meeting with national housing and infrastructure Minister Ronald Chitotela who has assured of reforming national housing authority for it to be able to perform according to the expectations of the people of Zambia.

Mr. Nyambose says they are hopeful that government will act on its commitment and reform the authority.
