PAZA says it has potential to attain full media freedoms

The Press Association of Zambia (PAZA) says has the potential to attain full media freedoms.

PAZA Executive Secretary Patson Phiri says this can be realized with the enactment of the Access to Information Bill.

Mr. Phiri notes that in the amended constitution there is a provision of media freedom but that in order for this to be fully implemented; there is need for some legal backing such as through the enactment of Access to Information Bill.

He has however, appealed to the government not to be seen to intimidate media practitioners as the cases has been in some instances.

And Mr. Phiri says coming of the Independent Broadcasting Authority has brought sanity in the broadcasting industry.
