The opposition political parties have been urged to provide quality checks and balances required to promote democracy and good governance in the country.

The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) has urged opposition political parties to support incumbent governments to promote good governance and service delivery.

ICOZ Board Chairperson Bishop David Masupa has described the engagement of governments by opposition parties as unnecessary confrontation, adding that it is counter-productive with no value to the lives of the common man.

Bishop Masupa says though the country does not need someone to give praises to government all the time but there is need for opposition political parties not to be unnecessarily antagonistic simply because they belong to the opposition party.

He says there is need to encourage governments where they are striving to improve the lives of the citizenry and be constructive in condemnations rather than being personal.

Bishop Masupa is urging Zambians to learn to be objective and give praise were it is due and condemn where it is due.
