United Progressive People (UPP) President Dr. Saviour Chishimba has given government a 24 hour ultimatum to apologize to the people of Zambia over the alleged purportedly government to government deal to supply 100,000Metric Tonnes of maize to Malawi.
Dr. Chishimba has alleged that the deal to transport maize to Malawi is not a government to government deal by that the transaction which was started by the private sector has been taken over by some people with selfish interests.
He says a Zambian company followed all procedures to sign an agreement with the Zambia Cooperative Federation to secure 100 00 0 metric tonnes of maize but that the same company duly entered into another agreement with ADMARC in Malawi and the tender was granted by the government of Malawi to the Zambian government.
Dr. Chishimba says government has claimed not to have business in business but the interference by looters in government is killing the private sector in Zambia.
He stresses that if the matter is not rectified in 24 hours, UPP will get an order of the court to compel government to do the right thing.
