SEC bemoans low participation of Zambians in capital markets

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has bemoaned the low participation of Zambians in capital markets.

Acting SEC Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Diana Sichone says the commission has established that this is owing to ignorance about the benefits of long term investments among the Zambian people.

Mrs. Sichone says to this effect, SEC through its Capital Markets Development mandate is scaling up its awareness programs about capital markets.

She says the aim is to make people in the country understand how they can benefit from capital markets.

Mrs. Sichone states that the Commission has thus made the its Capital Markets awareness program a continuous undertaking.
