Chanda’s statement to the Judiciary makes sad reading- Chipenzi

Electoral Expert McDonald Chipenzi says the statement attributed to Presidential press aide Amos Chanda on the judiciary makes sad readings.

Mr. Chipenzi says attacks from people like Mr. Chanda tend to have a chilling effect on the judges especially the weak one’s considering that his statement has blessings from the appointing authority.

He notes that Mr. Chanda’s statement has undermined the integrity of the courts and judges and further contributed to loss of public confidence in the courts and judges who are already suffering public ridicule and odium.

Mr. Chipenzi says Courts are supposed to be neutral arbiters in the electoral process anywhere where a sound democratic process exists.

He says the moment public confidence is lost in the justice system of any country, citizens resort to other orthodox ways of conflict resolutions.
