Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Lawrence Sichalwe has reassured the traditional establishment in the country that government will no longer interfere in traditional and cultural affairs.

Mr. Sichalwe says government respects the provisions of the amended republican Constitution which precludes it from getting involved in chiefs’ affairs or resolving their wrangles.

Mr. Sichalwe points out that Article 165 of the Constitution has taken away all the powers of the state with regards its involvement in chiefs’ affairs.

He says this means that all wrangles among and within chiefdoms will now be resolved within the cultures and traditions of the various chiefdoms.

Mr Sichalwe adds that where a traditional issue fails to be resolved within the traditional establishment the Courts will be the last resort for seeking redress.
