The Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) has hailed government’s intentions to engage private companies in the collection of taxes in the informal sector.

EAZ president Chrispin Mphuka says his association thinks that such a move will broaden the Country’s tax base.

Dr. Mphuka has told QTV News in an interview that his association has also taken note that government wants to bring on board electronic monitoring for cash transactions.

He says the EAZ expected that government would have done more to increase the Country’s tax base.

Dr. Mphuka notes that as it is now the tax that has been proposed by government will over burden the same formal sector.
