President Edgar Lungu says he is expecting Police Officers to be above bold and not engage in politics in their execution of duties.

President Lungu says the role of the police is to protect lives and property and not engaging in politics.

Speaking when he swore in Information Minister Kampamba Mulenga and Northern Province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene, President Lungu says if the police engage in politics, they will have a problem not only from political cadres but from everyone.

President Lungu says the police should be professional and ensure that law and order is maintained in the country.

And President Lungu has expressed confidence that Ms. Mulenga will be equal to the task even though some people may be thinking she may be too young for the job.

He has advised Ms. Mulenga not to disappoint the women in the country by being sacked but has urged her to be loyal, discipline and committed to duty.
