Lungu leads remembrance of world war heroes

President Edgar Lungu today led Service Chiefs and foreign diplomats in laying wreaths at the Cenotaph in Lusaka in remembrance of world wars’ fallen heroes.

President Lungu who arrived at Cenotaph at 10:45hours in the morning was received by Vice President Inonge Wina and speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini.

Otherwise that were present are Chief Justice Irene Mambilima, Cabinet Ministers and other senior government and members of the ruling Central Committee.

The Head of State then proceeded to lay his wreaths and after which the service chiefs, ex- service men league and members of the diplomatic corps also laid their wreaths.

And Memorable Order Tins Hats (MOTH) Chairman Colonel Lombe Mfula stressed the importance of remembering the world war heroes given the roles they played in the wars.

Col Mfula says remembering the world war heroes is about learning from the past.

He states that this is however with a greater resolve that the atrocities of world wars must never be repeated in the current generation or the next.
