Labour and Social Security Minister Joyce Nonde

Labour and Social Security Minister Joyce Nonde has assured the nation that she will be impartial when dealing with issues to do with workers in the country.

Mrs. Nonde says there are a lot of issues that requires government, Trade Unions, Employers and workers to work together to set agenda for employment and labour.

Speaking during the Meet the labour Minister Dinner in Lusaka, Ms. Nonde has implored all the employers, workers and trade unions to explore the possibilities of regulating, in cooperating in the associations and organizing workers of the informal economy for the benefit of achieving the decent work agenda.

And the Labour Minister says the process of merging the two mother bodies the Zambia Congress Unions (ZCTU) and Federation of Trade Unions (FFTUZ) is a major task that will impact on the organization of workers in the country.

She says while the process is freely chosen by affiliate unions of mother bodies, government will support any proposals aimed at harmonization and promotion of industrial peace.

Mrs. Simukoko has since challenged Trade Union to educate workers on the use of safe and protective clothing in any workplace including financial institutions.

Speaking at the same event ZUFIAW President Ackim Mweemba has endorsed the Labour Minister as a Life Member of the Union to express its pride for her achievement and illustrious contribution to the Union.

Mr. Mweemba has since urged Mrs. Simukoko to continue working hard saying that the Union will endeavor to cooperate with the Labour Ministry in an effort of achieving a decent working environment for all stakeholders.

And speaking earlier ZUFIAW General Secretary Chingati Msiska is urging the Minister never to silence the voice that speaks valiantly on behalf of Workers.

Mr. Msiska says the organization is expecting the Minister to actualize all measures that you believed were critical in furthering the interests of a Zambian worker.

He has since urged the Minister to continue exhibiting her strong leadership qualities that proved to be of great benefits to labour movement during her tenure.
