TIZ appeals to Lungu to allow ACC independence

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to allow the Anti-Corruption Commission work independently in fulfilling its mandate of investigating corruption and FRAUD.

TIZ information Officer Charles Chulu says failure to allow the ACC to work independently in executing its mandate will render the President’s statement on corruption a mere academic exercise aimed at gaining political mileage and sympathy from the Zambian people.

Mr. Chulu however states that TIZ fully supports President Lungu’s stance to dismiss all Ministers and public officials involved in corruption so that citizens will take his stance seriously and see that corruption is a grave danger to development in Zambia.

And Electoral expert Macdonald Chipenzi says the Anti-Corruption Commission should be allowed to work independently.
